STEP - 2 Creating a Website

Creating a beat selling website has never been easier in this day and age. There are multiple subscription based websites out there which offer the ability to create your own automated beat selling business starting off from as little as $0. Thats Right. Completely Free!

Third Party Hosts

Some great examples of these websites are listed below:

- BeatStars (my personal favourite)

- Airbit

- TrakTrain

- Soundee

Personally, I only use and have experience with BeatStars, therefore cannot speak on the other websites. However, alongside many others I can say that the service which BeatStars provides is outstanding and makes it extremely easy for producers and artists to commercialise their music. Upload your beats, create your licences, link your PayPal and the rest is taken care of!

Benefits of having an online beat store

- Automated Sales

- Convert Visitors to customers

- Helps build a more professional brand

An example of my personal beat store which I use to sell beats online through BeatStars can be seen below. You will also see that the ability to customise your website to your liking is second to none.

As you can see, my catalogue of beats are laid out in a format which is very easy for artists/customers to navigate through. This creates an automated system where artists can choose which beats they would like to purchase, at the prices shown, without ever having to directly reach out to enquire with me. This saves both me and the artist a lot of time in comparison to if I was using another method of selling e.g. through email.

Below is an overview of the BeatStars subscription plan. So get your website set up and start chasing those sales!

How to upload to to your Beat Store

When uploading a beat to your website it is important to export the beat from your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) in 3 different formats

Tagged MP3

- This is the lowest quality version and will be used as to merely preview your beat on your website
- Should also include your producer tag to protect yourself from anyone who may try to take your beat for free and use it for profit

Untagged WAV

- Highest quality version
- Untagged as this will be the file which the artist/customer receives when they purchase a beat from your store

Trackouts

- WAV File.
- Includes the individual stems of the beat
- Should be exported in a zip. format

Thanks again,

Marc

With this in mind it should be noted that the music itself should always be prioritised first to ensure that the products you are putting out into the market are the best they can be.  Here are three tips for the producers who are still working on their craft and do not yet feel like their beats are at a high enough standard to be put out on the market. 1. Educate yourself Everyday is an opportunity to learn something new, so use your time wisely. Rather than binge watching your favourite Netflix series for the third time this week, put your time towards bettering your music career. There are thousands of videos and tutorials on beat-making spread thr...

STEP 3 - Social Media Marketing

Platforms such as Youtube, Soundcloud and Instagram are the best places to market your products with regards to selling beats online, as most artists resort to these platforms when searching for beats to use for their upcoming projects. And guess what? They are completely FREE to use! Artists have been so accustomed to using these types of platforms as these are what they feel most comfortable using, as they already spend a decent portion of their day on these platforms anyway. With this in mind, it is crucial that you use these platforms as a marketing tool to help drive traffic to your website, especially if you are trying to do this organically. YouTube When it comes to selling beats online, YouTube is without doubt the number 1 platform with regards to marketing your music and driving traffic to your beat store. Traffic which your receive on your youtube channel can be funnelled back to your website where it can then be converted to sales. The more traffic you are getting on YouTub...
